Emmanuel Mâa Berriet

Emmanuel Mâa Berriet was born in 1961 in Alger. He discovered programming in 1977, and he’s had a passion for it ever since.

In 1996, Mâa developed the software AAASeed (meaning, in French, a 3A quality seed); a piece of real time graphical software in 2D/3D, AAASeed is a virtual lego brick, an image synthesizer, an interactive instrument....

Just as others draw or play music, Mâa uses his software to produce his own artworks and to collaborate with other artists. He creates installations, interactive dance performances, virtual rooms in museums, and living art.

Investigating the boundary between the real and the virtual, Mâa explores constructs, explores and tends to a corner of the digital universe.

His most recent installations are becoming more and more reactive, collective, and interactive; exemplifying influences from neuroscience.
